What mass flow controllers does Bürkert offer?

The Bürkert range includes mass flow controllers for gases and liquids, as well as mass flow meters and electronic pressure controllers. Different devices are available depending on the application, medium and process requirements.

Mass flow controllers vs. mass flow meters

Bürkert has the right product to suit your application:

  • Mass flow controllers (MFCs) measure the flow rate and actively regulate it to a specified set-point value. Bürkert’s compact devices combine a sensor, control valve and electronics.
  • Mass flow meters (MFMs) measure the flow rate only and are used when active control is not required.  

Mass flow controllers for gases and liquids

Our focus is on precise gas control: Mass flow controllers for gases  are used for air, nitrogen and oxygen, as well as for carbon dioxide, hydrogen and special process gases such as argon or ammonia.

We also offer solutions for controlling and dosing liquids, for example water, methanol or hydrogen peroxide.

Thermal vs. Coriolis mass flow controllers

Depending on the medium and the required precision, our devices use thermal or Coriolis-based measurement principles:

  • Thermal mass flow measurement: This offers a cost-effective and straightforward solution for measuring pure gases and is characterised by simple integration and the absence of moving parts. The devices are compact in design and are suitable for many standard industrial applications.
  • Coriolis mass flow measurement: This provides highly precise, direct measurements of mass, density and temperature, helping our customers to monitor processes with a high degree of reliability and versatility. A particularly valuable benefit is the medium-independent measuring accuracy, which ensures maximum process reliability in demanding liquid and gas processes.

From individual devices to system solutions

Bürkert mass flow controllers are available as compact individual devices or can be combined to form modular multi-MFC systems. Depending on the application conditions, highly integrated, bespoke system solutions can also be implemented using existing sensor and valve technologies.  In many applications, flow control alone is not sufficient, as a constant system or tank pressure is required – to maintain process stability, for example, or to ensure reliable dosing of media. This is where electronic pressure controllers (EPCs) perfectly complement our flow control solutions: thanks to precise, rapid and stable pressure control, the entire process can be managed from a single source with the highest level of control quality.
