Topping-out ceremony for extension and modernisation work in Gerabronn

Against the backdrop of its growing global production network, Bürkert Fluid Control Systems is modernising and expanding its current site in Gerabronn. The completed shell of the building has now been celebrated with a topping-out ceremony. In parallel with global networking, the construction project represents another commitment to the Hohenlohe region — an example of sustainable construction.

Bürkert is building and has reached the next milestone in site expansion

The completion of the building shell was celebrated in Gerabronn on 16 May 2025, with a small but elegant ceremony for the employees at the plant site and a number of invited guests. The new sustainable energy supply centre is in place along with three more halls, and the roof work and interior design are in full swing. Construction work has been underway since September 2024. Specifically, this involves expanding the assembly area for customer-specific systems, modernising solenoid valve production, increasing storage capacity and creating more social areas and a new company restaurant for the approximately 270 employees. In a total of three construction phases, the site in Gerabronn is to be adapted to the needs and growth of the Bürkert Group and to ensure a modern and improved working environment.

Focus on energy efficiency and resource preservation

Fluidics specialist Bürkert, which has had a production site in Gerabronn since 1961, is once again demonstrating its commitment to sustainability with this investment. As with the construction projects in Criesbach and Öhringen, the company aims to make the buildings as energy-efficient as possible by creating an energy centre as well as installing a photovoltaic system on the roofs and on the façade. Other features including a system for heat recovery from compressed air generation, heat pump technology and geothermal energy for heating and the utilisation of rainwater and wood also highlight the importance of sustainability at Bürkert. The compact design and continued use of the existing buildings, some of which date back to 1964, are also proof that maximum efficiency and minimal waste are important.

Everything according to plan

The multi-stage construction measures are scheduled to be completed by the middle of next year and, according to construction project manager Carsten Böcking, everything is going according to plan – not least due to the mild weather conditions in winter and thanks to the excellent coordination between those involved in the construction. As a result, there was nothing standing in the way of the traditional topping-out ceremony for the 4,000 m2 expansion: In addition to management team member and CTO Stefan Müller, Bürkert was represented by Marc Steffen Dahlheimer, who has overall responsibility for production in Germany, Martin Wolfarth, plant manager for Gerabronn, Carsten Böcking, project manager for construction and members of the works council. Among the invited guests were Gerabronn’s mayor Christian Mauch, employees of the construction companies Stauch Bau and Holzbau Amann as well as the project managers from the architectural firm Kraft + Kraft from Schwäbisch Hall.
