Clean Utilities Production & Distribution

Clean utilities such as pure water, ultra pure water and sterile water for injection (WFI) are some of the most common and most critical of ingredients in hygienic processes. Water quality is therefore essential to the success of hygienic finished products.

For the production, distribution and control at point of use of specialised waters such as ultrapure water (UPW) and sterile Water for Injection (WFI), the most stringent levels of cleanliness and sterility, practically conceivable, are employed.  By definition, sterile WFI is the pinnacle of water production, bacteria free and sterile,  ready to be injected into the body as a vehicle for drugs or as a parenteral fluid replacement.

Suspended particles, organic and inorganic material and bacteria are all sources of contamination and depending on the quality hierarchy of the water needed, various purification steps are required. These include filtration, softening, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet exposure, ion exchange polishing and ultrafiltration.

Bürkert is involved in the complete water supply chain, from the treatment of incoming water supplies, in-line testing and verification, and final decontamination and neutralisation. All processing is completed to the most stringent requirements.
